Brisbane has a lot going for it as a running city, but Run the River might be its most scenic event. Starting and finishing at Brett's Wharf Plaza in Hamilton, this World Athletics-certified half marathon takes runners along the iconic Brisbane River, past parklands and through some of the city's most beautiful riverside precincts.
Four distances cater to all levels: the half marathon (21.1km), 10km, 5km, and a 2.2km Kids Dash. Early Pace Rates (until mid-June 2026) have the half at $149, the 10km at $99, and the 5km at $69 — solid value for a certified event with this much scenery.
Start times are staggered to improve course flow and runner safety: the half kicks off at 6:00am, 10km at 7:00am, 5km at 8:15am, and Kids Dash at 9:00am. Early August mornings on the Brisbane River are typically stunning — cool, clear, with the city just waking up around you.
The course's World Athletics certification makes it a solid choice for runners chasing officially recognised times or using the result for qualification purposes. Open to all abilities, Run the River is as much a community experience as it is a race.
Registration closes progressively — price increases apply from mid-June. Personalised bib postage cut-off is 9 July 2026. A free event tee offer is available for entries before 16 July 2026.
