Victoria runs deep, and it's home to Australia's biggest marathon weekend. The Nike Melbourne Marathon Festival draws around 50,000 runners and finishes on the hallowed turf of the MCG, while ASICS Run Melbourne takes over the CBD's closed streets each winter. The state also lays claim to the country's oldest marathon, the Traralgon Marathon (run since 1968), the flat-and-fast Run Prix on the Albert Park Grand Prix circuit, and a string of scenic favourites, including the Great Ocean Road Running Festival, the Surf Coast Century ultra, and festivals at Geelong, Ballarat, Shepparton and Bright. From cool-climate PB courses to coastal trail epics, Victoria packs in more variety than almost anywhere.
