I launched runcal in 2026. Why? Because I'm a dad that's short on time. I wanted a quick, clean, and easy solution to filter through all the Australian running events by certification. Again... why? I can't run a race every weekend anymore, so I just want to run the ones where I can earn World Athletics points. Then me and my mates Chris, Jono, and Justin, can continue our banter on how poorly we rank at a global scale.
From silly beginners a useful product was built. Sharing what I built with local run clubs, people liked runcal. So I added more events, more features, more opportunities for collaboration. Now there's 200+ events; Marathons, half marathons, fun runs, trail ultras, kids' dashes, all organised by state, distance, and surface. Each week I'm adding new races in NSW, QLD, VIC, TAS, NT, SA, WA, and ACT. Reach out if you want yours on the list!
How we keep it accurate. Event details change, so every listing is checked against the event's own official website, and we link straight to it so you can confirm and enter. Where a course is certified we verify it against the World Athletics, AIMS or UTMB records rather than taking a marketing claim at face value. Dates are reviewed regularly and rolled over as new editions are announced. Spot something wrong? The contact page is one click away and we'll fix it.
What we don't do. We're not a registration platform and we're not affiliated with the events listed. The aim is to build a calendar runners trust, kept current, and have as little noise as possible.
