Runners at the Stromlo Running Festival near Canberra

If your idea of a perfect race weekend involves gum trees, ridgelines and views in every direction, the Stromlo Running Festival is calling. Held each November at the purpose-built Stromlo Forest Park just outside Canberra, SRF is the ACT's biggest trail running festival — a warm, inclusive, all-abilities celebration of getting off the road and onto the dirt.

A run steeped in history

Founded in the wake of the devastating 2003 Canberra bushfires, the festival champions the strength, resilience and courage of the community, with running legend Robert de Castella among its founders and long-time ambassadors. It's a race with genuine heart.

Pick your distance

Six options span every level: the trail Marathon (42.2km), the flagship 30km, plus 15km, 10km and 5km, and a 2.5km kids' run. Whether you're chasing your first trail finish or a big day in the hills, there's a start line for you. The courses are ITRA and UTMB indexed, so your effort counts toward the global trail rankings too.

The venue

Stromlo Forest Park is a world-class running and cycling facility with cross-country trails, great spectating, and amenities right on your doorstep, including a University of Canberra recovery hub on event day. There's ample paid parking on site and a free drop-off zone.
