The Victorian 5,000m Championships is the state title over 12.5 laps of the track, run under lights at Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park. The 2026 edition is on the evening of Thursday 19 November. Contested across U20 and Open divisions, it is one of the most popular nights on the Athletics Victoria calendar and a regular launchpad for the state's best middle-distance runners.
The graded A races are fast, championship-standard fields (World Athletics-approved shoes are required in the championship races), and interstate athletes are eligible to enter. Times count toward state and national qualifying, making it a key summer target for track 5000m runners.
