A flat, fast out-and-back along WA's Geographe Bay, with marathon, half, 10km and 5km options by the beach.
The Busselton Bay Run, hosted by the Busselton Runners Club, is one of Western Australia's friendliest road races, run along the gorgeous Geographe Bay coastline in the state's south-west. Pancake-flat and scenic, it's a brilliant spot to chase a personal best or simply enjoy a morning run by the water.
There's a full marathon, half marathon, 10km and 5km, all on an out-and-back course following Geographe Bay Road beside the beach. Walkers are welcome at the back of the 10km and 5km, making it a genuinely all-comers event. The flat profile and sea breezes make the longer distances very achievable.
Held in February, it can be warm, so start your training early and hydrate well. Busselton is a popular holiday town — famous for its historic jetty — so it's an easy event to build a south-west weekend around, with wineries and beaches close by. Enter online through the club ahead of race day. Whether you're racing the marathon or strolling the 5km, the bayside setting is hard to beat.
