Runners through the streets of Perth at the HBF Run for a Reason

HBF Run for a Reason is one of Perth's biggest mornings of the year, a mass-participation run that has raised more than $14 million for over 350 charities since 2010, including upwards of $2 million in 2025. The 2027 event is on Sunday 23 May. Every distance starts in the CBD at Hay and William Streets and finishes at Gloucester Park.

Three distances are on offer: a 3km, the Specsavers 12km, and the Brooks Half Marathon. The 12km and the half share the run's signature feature, a stretch through the Northbridge Tunnel with not a car in sight, plus a run along the freeway and across the Causeway. The half adds the scenic sweep of Mounts Bay Road, and it tends to sell out first.

When you enter you can pick a charity to run for and set up a fundraising page, which is the point of the day for much of the field.

Entrants have in the past travelled free on Transperth services on race day; confirm it when you register. The CBD start is central and the course is wheelchair accessible throughout.
