Runners at the Bridge to Brisbane fun run

The Bridge to Brisbane is Queensland's largest fun run, and the draw is right there in the name: the 10km starts at the foot of the Gateway Bridge and takes you up and over it, a stretch of motorway you would normally only see through a windscreen. Both distances finish at the Brisbane Showgrounds. It is on Sunday 13 September in 2026.

There are two options. The 10km is the headline, with the bridge climb early and a run down through Bowen Hills to the finish. The 4.5km is the family version, starting at Hercules Park and looping back along Kingsford Smith Drive, well within reach for first-timers, walkers and kids.

It is as much a fundraiser as a race. Participants raised $1.1 million for local charities in 2025, and you can nominate a cause and set up a fundraising page when you enter.

September mornings in Brisbane are warm, so start hydrated and dress light. Parking near the start is tight; public transport into the city is the easier option, and the Showgrounds finish has food, music and space to recover.
