The Brisbane Marathon Festival is the city's mid-year road race, run each June through Brisbane's riverside and parklands. It offers a marathon, half marathon, 10km, 5km and shorter fun runs on a flat, certified course, in the mild Queensland winter conditions that suit distance running. A growing city marathon with the river and the CBD as a backdrop.
The 10km carries more weight than the distance usually does: Queensland Athletics awards its Queensland 10km Road Championship here. The association attaches its winter road titles to established events instead of staging them separately, so the state 10km is decided inside this festival, alongside the mile at Toowoomba, the 5km and marathon at the Gold Coast, and the half marathon on the Sunshine Coast. Allocations are reviewed each year, so confirm with Queensland Athletics if you are entering for the title (last verified August 2026).
Takaki Mori took a second straight Brisbane Marathon title on Sunday 7 June, winning in 2:21:05 with Kei Tsuboi again runner-up in 2:25:04. Lucy Bartholomew was first woman home in 2:47:06, 20th overall.
