Logan is one of those parts of Greater Brisbane that doesn't get nearly enough credit. The Berrinba Wetlands — the centrepiece of the Logan Running Festival course — are a genuinely lovely natural reserve: wetlands, native vegetation, and the kind of morning birdlife that makes you feel like you're running through a nature documentary rather than a suburban Brisbane park. The Logan Running Festival has carved out a niche as a friendly, well-organised event that delivers a World Athletics certified result on a course that's genuinely interesting to run.

The course

The multi-lap circuit around the Berrinba Wetlands on Wayne Goss Drive in Browns Plains is the heart of the event. The laps are 5km each, which makes this a logistically simple event to spectate and gives runners strong crowd support throughout. The courses are World Athletics certified, flat, and fast — ideal conditions for runners targeting a PB or qualifying time.

The distances

Marathon (42.2km) and Half Marathon (21.1km). The half marathon is run on four laps of the wetlands circuit; the marathon on eight. The multi-lap format isn't for everyone — some runners love the familiarity, others prefer point-to-point novelty. For those who like knowing exactly where they are and how far they've gone, Berrinba is ideal.

Getting there

Berrinba is about 25km south of Brisbane CBD via the M1. The Berrinba Wetlands precinct on Wayne Goss Drive is accessible by car. Logan Central is the nearest train station (roughly 2km away on the Beenleigh line from Brisbane). The Logan area has good accommodation options within a short drive.
