Night of the PBs is a 5,000m track night built for one thing: running a fast time. The 2026 edition was on Friday 11 September at Hensley Athletics Track in Eastgardens, in Sydney's south-east, run as a series of evening heats from 6:30pm. Each heat is seeded by goal pace and has pacers to hold it through the 12.5 laps.
When you book, you pick the heat whose pace range matches your target; if it has sold out you can join a waitlist. Gates opened at 5:45pm, and there were prizes and a recovery zone once the racing finished. The fastest heat in 2026 was won in 14:57. It is a small, social alternative to a road 5km or parkrun with limited places, so book early. The 2027 date has not been announced; the organiser posts event news on Instagram (@nightofthepbs).
Ieuan Hopkins won the fastest heat of the 2026 Night of the PBs in 00:14:57 on Friday 11 September 2026 at Hensley Athletics Track, three seconds ahead of Jonah Edwards. Tilly Offord was the first woman in the heat in 00:16:18, 14th. Runners race the 5,000m in seeded heats, so this table is Heat 6 only, not an overall ranking.
