Runners on a tree-lined riverside path at the Cooks River Fun Run

Winter mornings in Sydney don't get much friendlier than this. The Cooks River Fun Run, presented by Frontline Fitness, returns to Freshwater Park in Strathfield on Sunday 28 June 2026, a flat, fast, feel-good morning out for runners of every stripe.

The course

The course rolls along the scenic Bay to Bay Cycleway beside the Cooks River, running from Freshwater Park to Ford Park. It's flat, it's fast, and it's professionally chip-timed by Multisport Australia, so your finish time is legit. Just remember it's a shared path, there will be other walkers, riders and the odd off-duty dog, so keep the earphones out and your wits about you.

Pick your distance

Three options suit every ability: a 10km for those chasing a time, a 5km for a brisk blast, and the ever-popular 2km Family Dash to get the kids hooked. Adults can run the Family Dash alongside their little one for a few extra dollars, perfect for first-timers.

Entry and timings

Early-bird entries (the first 100 runners) start at $50 for the 10km, $38 for the 5km and $28 for the Family Dash, climbing to standard and late pricing as race day nears, so lock it in early. On the morning, the 5km kicks off at 8:00am, the 10km at 9:00am, and the Family Dash at 9:45am, with prize-giving around 10:10am.

What you get

Every finisher scores a themed medal, post-race snacks, sponsor giveaways and a finisher's certificate. There's a 1-hour cut-off for the 5km and 1 hour 45 for the 10km, so it's welcoming to walkers and run-walkers too.

Getting there

Freshwater Park has street parking on Wilson Street, Ada Avenue and the surrounding streets (be kind to the locals and mind the driveways). Catching the bus? The 483 between the CBD and Strathfield stops just 200m away.
