The Runaway Sydney Half hands you the city's CBD with the cars taken away. Run on fully closed roads, the 21.1km route takes in the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge, Barangaroo, The Rocks and the Pyrmont peninsula before finishing at The Domain. The next edition is on Sunday 2 May 2027.
It is one of the biggest halves in the country, with close to 30,000 runners across the half and the companion 10km. The course is certified and quick, with harbour views throughout and enough undulation to keep it interesting rather than flat. Six aid stations cover water and electrolytes along the way.
Closed-road city races like this are rare and they sell out, so enter early. The CBD start and Domain finish are central and easy to reach by train, ferry or on foot, which keeps race-morning logistics simple.
