The Brooks Surf Coast Trail Marathon serves up arguably the most scenic 42km in Victoria, tracing the iconic Surf Coast Walk from Torquay to Fairhaven. Think Bells Beach, the clifftops of Point Addis, the Anglesea heath and the Split Point lighthouse at Aireys Inlet — all strung together on flowing coastal trail.
Take on the marathon solo or as a team of two, tackle the half marathon, or dip your toes in with the new 8km Urquhart's Bluff Blast. The terrain is runnable trail rather than brutal mountain, making it a brilliant first trail marathon, though the sand and stairs will still find your legs.
Held in June, it's a cool-weather event — perfect for running, but pack a layer for the start and finish. Entries are cheapest with the early-bird 'Keen Bean' pricing and climb as race day nears, so lock it in early. It's a point-to-point course, so plan for the shuttle buses between start and finish. Stick around Torquay afterwards for a well-earned feed by the coast.
