Trail running in the mighty Grampians

The Wonderland Run is a spectacular trail event based in Halls Gap, deep in Victoria's rugged Grampians (Gariwerd). Named after the famous Wonderland rock formations, it sends runners up sandstone ridgelines and through dramatic mountain scenery that's among the most beautiful in the country — this is trail running with a serious 'wow' factor.

Pick your adventure

Choose from a roughly 50km ultra, a 37km, or a 20km trail run or walk, plus a 10km on Saturday and a Kids' 2km. The longer courses climb hard up to the Pinnacle and along the escarpment, rewarding the effort with jaw-dropping views over the valley. The terrain is technical in places, with plenty of rock and steps, so it's not a course for fast times — it's one to savour.

Good to know

Late August is cool and can be wet in the Grampians, so pack layers and check the mandatory gear. Halls Gap is a charming base with plenty of accommodation, kangaroos on the oval and good cafes for the post-run debrief. Book early, as the town and the event are popular. Bring your camera — you'll want to remember this one.
