Person running along a coastal path

If you're going to run a marathon, you might as well do it beside one of Queensland's most beautiful stretches of water. The United Airlines Jetty2Jetty takes place along the Moreton Bay foreshore on Sunday 19 July 2026, threading through the waterfront precincts of Clontarf, Woody Point, Margate, Redcliffe, and Scarborough on a course that stays close to the bay almost the entire way. It's flat, it's fast, and the views across to Moreton Island make the kilometres feel surprisingly manageable.

The course

The race starts at Clontarf and winds north along the bayside roads through Woody Point and Margate before reaching Redcliffe, then loops back south through Scarborough to finish near the start. The marathon and half marathon are both World Athletics certified, meaning your time is eligible for age group rankings and qualification purposes. Five distances mean there's genuinely something for everyone from the serious marathoner to the family jogger.

The distances

Marathon (42.2km), Half Marathon (21.1km), 10km, 5km, and a 3km fun run. The race has grown steadily over recent years and the full marathon now draws a competitive field alongside the social runners.

Why Moreton Bay in July?

Queensland winters are genuinely good for running. July in Brisbane typically means temperatures in the mid-teens at start time, clear skies, and low humidity — a far cry from the sweaty summer slogs that define most of the rest of the year. The early start means you'll catch the sunrise over Moreton Bay, which is its own reward.

Getting there

Clontarf is about 30km north of Brisbane CBD via the Bruce Highway. There's no direct public transport, so driving or carpooling is the practical option. The Redcliffe Peninsula has decent accommodation options — Redcliffe itself is a pleasant beachside town worth exploring before or after race day.
