A heritage marathon in Tasmania's midlands

The Ross Running Festival is a gem of the Tasmanian calendar, set in the beautifully preserved historic village of Ross in the island's midlands. With its convict-built sandstone bridge, colonial streetscapes and rolling rural surrounds, Ross offers one of the most charming backdrops for a marathon anywhere in the country.

Distances for all

Choose from the full marathon, half marathon, 10km and 5km, plus kids' events, all run on a well-supported multi-lap circuit through and around the village. The lap format means generous support and aid throughout, making it a friendly choice for a first marathon or a no-fuss PB attempt.

Good to know

September in the Tasmanian midlands is cool and often crisp — ideal racing weather, but pack a warm layer for before and after. Ross is roughly midway between Hobart and Launceston, making it an easy drive from either, and the village's bakery and historic pubs are perfect for a post-run reward.
