Runners crossing the iconic Tasman Bridge at the St Lukes Run the Bridge event in Hobart

If you need an excuse to visit Hobart in February, the St Lukes Run the Bridge has you covered. One of Tasmania's most iconic running events, it takes participants straight over the Tasman Bridge — arguably one of the most spectacular bridge crossings available to runners anywhere in Australia.

The 2026 event is the 17th edition, and with 4,756 entrants in 2025, it has built a loyal following of Hobartians and running tourists alike. The challenge? Beat the Bridge — can you make it across before the clock runs out?

Four distances are on offer: the classic 10km run, 5km run, 5km walk, and a 1km dash for the kids. Pacers are provided by the Tasmanian Road Runners (TRR Angels), easily identifiable with their pace time flags — so if you're chasing a specific goal, you'll have plenty of help finding the right wave.

The event is supported by nearly 100 volunteers from clubs including South Hobart Soccer Club, Hobart Harlequins Rugby Union, and Tasmanian Road Runners. The atmosphere is warm and community-driven throughout.

The course holds World Athletics certification for both the 10km and 5km distances. For post-race celebrations, Salamanca Place is right at the finish line — one of Australia's most famous historic precincts. Finish to coffee in about five minutes flat.

Getting There

Toilets are available at Ninja Stadium (10km start), Montagu Bay Primary School (5km start), and at the PW1 shed near the finish. Plan your parking in advance — Hobart's waterfront fills up early on race morning.
