Sydney's Backyard Ultra brings the last-one-standing format to St Ives Showground on the city's Upper North Shore, on 19 September 2026. Run by 180 Cadence, it uses a 6.71km loop that is almost entirely fire trail and grass, starting and finishing at the main showground oval each hour.
Like every backyard ultra, there is no set distance: runners head out on the hour, every hour, and the race continues until only one person can still complete a loop inside 60 minutes. The last man and last woman standing each take home a $1,000 prize. It shares its venue with the Sydney Ultra Marathons, and has quickly become one of the more popular backyard events on the east coast.
