Coastrek is a much-loved team hiking challenge that sends thousands of walkers along Australia's most beautiful coastlines to raise funds for charity. The Sydney edition is the original Coastrek, tracing the city's spectacular Northern Beaches coast, walked in teams of two or more.
Choose a 50km from Palm Beach, a 30km from Mona Vale or a 20km from Long Reef, with all routes finishing in Manly Cove. The longer options are a serious all-day endurance effort, while the 20km is achievable for most with a bit of training. Either way, you'll knock off some of Sydney's most gorgeous beaches and headlands.
Coastrek is a team event, so grab a few friends and start fundraising early. Train with progressively longer walks, sort out your footwear and headtorches for the longer distances, and pack for coastal weather. Held in autumn, conditions are usually mild and pleasant.
