The Sydney Ultra Marathons pack genuine wilderness trail running into a weekend on the city's doorstep. All distances start from St Ives Showground on the Upper North Shore, roughly a 27-minute drive from the Harbour Bridge, and head into the bush of Ku-ring-gai Chase and Garigal national parks and around Manly Dam.
The 100km (7am Saturday 25 July 2026) is the marquee event, climbing close to 2,900m with a 25-hour cut-off and a field capped at 250. The 50km follows at 7:30am the same day (about 1,570m of climb, 10-hour limit), while the 30km runs on the Sunday morning (976m, seven hours). Fields are deliberately capped to keep the trails from clogging, so the shorter races still sell out.
Run by 180 Cadence, results are uploaded to the ITRA and UTMB performance indexes. There are no pacers, full mandatory gear is required and checked at the start, and parking at the showground is free.
Mitchell Thornton won the 100km at the 2026 Sydney Ultra Marathon in 10:51:26 over the weekend of 25–26 July, three minutes three seconds ahead of Ashley Crutchley. Lauren McFarlane was the fastest woman in 14:43:21, 26th of 175 finishers.
