Coffs Backyard Ultra starts at 8:00am on Saturday 12 June 2027 at the Coffs Harbour Showground and ends whenever the last runner standing completes a yard nobody else can. The loop is 6.706km: two circuits of the showground, then an out-and-back along the Coffs Creek Walkway. Around three quarters of it is shaded gravel path, with 706 metres of boardwalk and just under a kilometre of bitumen. Elevation gain is 20 metres per yard, so pacing rather than climbing is the whole game.
Entry is donation-based rather than a fixed fee and recent fields have topped 500 runners. The organisers say it draws more women than any other backyard ultra in the world, and it carries a SheRunnerAus endorsement; the $1,000 last-one-standing prize is paid equally to the last male and the last female. Finish 15 yards (100.59km) and you collect an engraved event glass. Pull out at any point and there is a wooden spoon waiting, should you want it.
There is no live timing, and that is deliberate. Runners and their crew record each completed yard by placing a sticker on a communal tally board next to the corral. Free camping opens on the Friday afternoon, along with an optional preview run of the course and a runner panel that evening. Results are shared with Big's Backyard Ultra and the Australian Ultra & Trail Running Association.
